New Zealand Post Christchurch Mail Handling Centre

An essential part of New Zealand's postal infrastructure, New Zealand Post's Christchurch Mail Handling Centre was a complex project involving detailed planning, co-ordination and concurrent installation of sequenced components by Leighs Construction.

Covering a large footprint on a 30,000sqm greenfields site, the facility is 10,000sqm on two levels, housing state-of-the-art mail handling equipment.

Under the striking architectural barrel-featured roof, the building is designed to provide a variety of spaces to cater for the complexity of NZ Post's mail handling needs.The project included detailed acoustic insulation to protect from the adjoining international airport and a wide range of environmentally sustainable design features.
